 Fedora - Primark // Top - American Apparel // Trousers - Forever 21 // Jacket - Topshop // Watch - Michael Kors

A slightly different background for an outfit post today. The weather recently has just been so... for want of a better word, bluuurgghh. Just grey miserable-ness and buckets full of rain. Yay for British summers! (Read: Sun come back to us. Please?!)

So due to weather mishaps, I'm back indoors, but this time in a slightly different place. I've moved into my new uni house, eek so exciting! (Room details etc. coming soon!). A bit rubbish really after all the excitement of shooting outfit photos outside - but hopefully the weather will co-operate and I can have a more interesting background once again.

I'm just dreaming of summer really, with the slightly more realistic weather always in the back of my mind - hence the jacket. I really do love this outfit though, I whack it out as often as I feel is expectable. The trousers are so comfy and a nice change from jeans all-day-erryday. Saying that, the top is super comfy too. One of my only American Apparel purchases. It's still just a tad out of my price range to be honest..

Of course an outfit as sophisticated (haha, I joke) as this wouldn't be complete without my trusty Primark fedora. Still a firm favourite of mine.

(p.s. sorry for the lack of shoes, I kinda forgot/my floor is super ugly, oops!)

WISHLIST | For The Love Of ASOS - Outlet Picks

ASOS, fashion, style, wishlist, sale, wish list, New Look

If you know me, you'll know how much I love ASOS - unfortunately my purse doesn't love it so much.. One of my favourite apps is ASOS's, I can't wait to receive my monthly ASOS magazine and my 'Saved List' is always pages and 100's of pounds long. Just having so many brands all in one place is like my dream come true.

Their sale is a big highlight for me, always adding to my Saved List even more. Oops. This is a little sneak peak into my current Saved List. However, as you may have noticed from the increasing number of 'Wishlist' rather than 'New In' posts, I'm trying my very best to cut back on my spending (read: I'm poor because I've spent all my money on clothes, so I need to stop so I can afford to feed myself).

As you can tell, I don't really like colour. I know,  I know - change your tune Ellie, you're a black/grey/white kinda gal, we know. Being a tad more adventurous, I do really love the current silver footwear trend, and the boots would easily take you through summer into autumn.

The ultimate favourite has to be the maxi skirt. It would be so useful and a nice way of showing a bit of skin without showing too much skin. If you get what I mean.

What are your favourite ASOS sale picks?

If you've read ellie etc for a while now, or know me in person, you'll know I don't often wear statement necklaces. I've got a couple of cheapy Primark ones knocking around, that sometimes I whack out if I feel my outfit is too minimalist - but they aren't really part of my everyday jewellery list.

This being said, when the people at Happiness Boutique offered to send one of their gorgeous pieces for me to try out, I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by.

I went for a silver colour base metal, as all of my current jewellery is silver, plus I think it suits me more. The company is based in Germany, but lucky of us in the UK (and pretty much everywhere else in fact) they ship worldwide AND they offer a customer reward program - double whammy?! The necklace is of great quality - especially compared to my £4 Primark versions - and along with the others on the site, seems very good value for the quality and design.

It came in lovely packaging and a box, also including a bookmark with a quote from the late Lily Pulitzer. It's such a lovely sentiment, I'm tempted to get a print of it, just a nice phrase to remember.

MORE lifestyle weekend trips?! Oh yes. Don't worry, I've pretty much drained all my money now, so my galavanting around the country is coming to an eventual end! Last weekend saw a trip to London to see my cousin for a evening/day. Her blog is so cool, much more thoughtful and well written than mine, check it out HERE. Seriously, really cool.

For a day and an evening we managed to pack in a pretty decent amount. Seeing as it was right at the end of Wimbledon fortnight, we gathered the best picnic our student and graduate-living-in-london budgets could afford, (a.k.a. some reduced price cherries, a Tesco sandwich and a free can of coke) and toddled down to Exchange Square to munch our feeble picnic and watch some tennis. Thank you to the English summer weather for holding out for us!

After all the tennis fun, we headed to Cottons Rhumshack to catch Happy Hour a.k.a. half price cocktaaaiiillsss. One of my weaknesses seriously, take me to cocktails, and I'm basically yours. After we headed to Barrio East, because one set of Happy Hour cocktails definitely aren't enough?!

On the way back to my cousins flat, we stopped off at Urban Food Fest - cos we're pretty much constantly hungry, okay? You can get basically any kind of food there. We went for pizza, because we're a bit boring. For £4 a slice it was a very decent size and tasted incredible too.

The next morning we dragged our - maybe slightly a tad groggy *cough*hungover*cough* - selves to a bright space in Shoreditch called The Book Club. And. Just. OH MA GAAD. Pesto scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on top = the best invention I've ever had the privilege to try (and which will be overly repeated when I return to uni, probably without the salmon). I would definitely recommend it if you're in the area - except the coffee. I always have the worst luck with overly bitter coffee.

After our beyond satisfying (read: I was super full I could barely read/move/walk) breakfast/brunch, we crossed London to head home. A nice evening/day out all in all!

WISHLIST | Homeware Lusting

Amazon, copper, Etsy, H and M, home, home decor, homeware, IKEA, Oliver Bonas, paperchase, Wilkinson, wish list, wishlist, lifestyle blogger, fashion blogger
Frame - H&M // Kraft Box - Paperchase // Lamp - IKEA // Blanket - Homebase // Candle - H&M // Glass Dome - H&M // Faux Fur Cushion - IKEA // Faux Flowers - Wilko // Cushion Cover - IKEA //
Pot with Wire Cage - H&M // Jewellery Box - Oliver Bonas // Get Sh*t Done Poster - Etsy // Faux Succulent - Amazon

As I explained a while ago in one of my current obsession posts all about homeware - check it out HERE - I have this strange, relatively new, obsession with homeware. I reckon it's due to having my own house; regardless of the fact my first year halls house, wasn't really a home kinda house. Those of you who have lived in halls, I'm sure you'll understand.

I really love the minimalistic look, I think it's nordic style (maybe?) with lots of neutral shades and plants and faux fur. The colour scheme sounding a lot like my wardrobe eh? As you can tell the 'typical blogger/Instagram/youtuber fanatic with copper metalware has hit me with full force.

Hmm.. I'm off to dream about interiors and my ideas for my second year uni room - I've actually moved into my new house now. Eek, how exciting! Room tour/details post coming soon!

Another UK travel post, this is exciting isn't it?! A few days ago I went up to Birmingham with one of my best friends, to stay into her. I've been up (well down, I was in York at that point) to Birmingham previously to visit her when she was living in halls, but this time she was moving into her new 2nd year house - so exciting!

When we arrived we wandered down the BrindleyPlace, a spotless development by part of the canal network, just for a bit of food (just boring old Slug & Lettuce, so not much interesting to report there). Then proceeded to mooch around more of central Birmingham. Bare in mind this was one of those disgustingly hot and muggy days - whinging and complaints were out in full force.

Up on the top few floors of the library (that cool abstract building in the pictures above) is a peaceful Secret Garden. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city you can see for miles(?), surrounded by colourful plants and glass - it's all very calming.

The day after my friend asked if I wanted to go to the Custard Factory - obviously I said yes?! To be put back in my place with a 'Ellie, you realise it's not an actual factory that makes custard..', yeah, of course I knew that... In reality its a shopping arcade basically invisible unless you know its there. Colourful flags and buildings, cute little independent vintage shops, such a hidden gem.

The final picture is of the amazing coloured sky over the reservoir close to my friends house.. Still getting to grips with my camera so I feel the picture could be a tad better than it turned out!

Have you ever visited Birmingham - Brindley Place, The Secret Garden or The Custard Factory?

Teacup - Anthropologie

A couple of weeks ago my Mum handed in her final portfolio for her second degree (wahoo well done Mumsy!!) so we decided to make a (well a half day) of it. Guildford is such a lovely place, the last time I was there was something like 5 years ago, so I spent a lot of the time going 'Oooh, none of this was here before?!' 'Oooh, that's new!' 'Oooh look at that!' - highly irritating for my poor Mum.

Hidden away on the top floor/roof of House of Fraser is a charming tea room called The Tea Terrace ('A Very English Tea Room'). We sat on the terrace, thank you to the lovely summer weather for permitting this, next to an Alice-In-Wonderland-esque roof garden, and ate and drank from Alice-In-Wonderland-esque crockery. All was very tasty (bar a slightly too strong/bitter coffee..).

Continuing on with the Alice In Wonderland themed day, we stopped by in Anthropologie - I swear I would buy every last bit of their homeware if I had the money - and I picked up the treasure of a tea cup pictured above, it even has little feet!

Have you ever visited The Tea Terrace or Guildford?

STYLE | Oversized Denim + A Pop Of Neon ft. Fat Face

fashion, ootd, outfit, fat face, neon, summer, south coast brights, collaboration
Neon Embriodered Top + Denim Jacket - Fat Face
Shoes - Topshop
Sunglasses - eBay

When most people think of neon, their mind is usually cast to lyrca-clad 80's teenagers, dancing to cheesy pop music we would now refer to as 'Eighties Classics'. Not gonna lie, mine usually is too. But recently neon has become reinvented, adding a colourful twist on classic styles and monochrome looks.

When the lovely people at Fat Face contacted me about their South Coast Brights collection, I couldn't wait to see their take on the neon trend. To be completely honest with you, I've almost always disregarded Fat Face as 'oh, it's just somewhere my Mum shops', but their collections are becoming more and more appealing and catering for younger generations. The pieces in the collection have managed to bring a modern look to neon, mixing in to the current 70's gypsy-folk trend. Plus all are lovely and summery too.

If you know me, you'll know I'm not really much of a 'colour person' - monochrome and many different greys is definitely my go to look. So I really enjoyed the concept of a 'pop' of neon, just a small touch of colour, I can deal with that. I went for a size bigger in both items I chose, simply due to wanting a slightly oversized look for both, however I feel the items were definitely true to size.
